The National Math Honor Society visited John Trumbull Elementary school on December 8th, 2023, to help the children become more excited about math. The club arrived with their festive pajama pants and lesson plans ready to go! The members had to prepare an activity for the 2nd grade class they were assigned to, to challenge their brains while also keeping them thrilled to play along. As the members met up in their small groups of two or three, they discussed different ideas for their lesson plan. Each lesson needed to consist of addition and subtraction problems that were either two digit numbers or singular digital numbers. The lessons lasted for an hour and the students took them well. The game aspect implemented in their learning had them involved and competitive to win. Overall, this experience went even better than expected and not only did the 2nd graders enjoy it, but as well as the highschool students. The Math Honor Society can’t wait to visit again!
