Radium girls, the WHS fall play, about female factory workers getting compensated for hazardous working conditions, was believed to be a hit! Sara McGowan who played Nancy Jane Harlan, (sob sister), said, “I think it went really well, Some nights went better than others, but it still went really well.” Chloe Demaris, who played Kathryn Wiley, (New Jersey Consumers League chairman), said, “I think it’s one of the best that we’ve done in quite some time.” When talking about attendance they both agreed that the attendance was mild because still not many people knew about the topic.
Each cast member had different points of view on the show, all good but different. Chloe said, “We worked with a lot of people so it was really nice to get to know people I didn’t know before, especially the freshman and sophomores.” With different roles and different amounts of work put into each role, the experience wasn’t the same for everyone. They both go on to talk about Giovanna Rapacioli, (Student Director of the play), and how professionally she handled all types of typical mishaps. Laysha Abikarram who helps with light and sound says that when mistakes are made, they just have to play it by ear because no one really knows what’s supposed to be happening.
If you missed Radium Girls, this year’s spring musical is Chicago!, is a movie musical, and a Broadway show. Auditions were held Monday, December 18th, in the auditorium from 3-7pm. The Watertown Theater Program hopes to see you there!
