The WaterOak PeeWee Level 1 cheerleading team was named National Champions at PopWarners National Competition in Orlando, Florida, on December 7th. The WaterOak Cheer and Football Organization had 3 teams competing at the National level, their JV, PeeWee, and Mighty Mite teams. The PeeWee team, ages ranging from 9 to 11 years old, brought home a National Title for the first time in many years for the WaterOak organization. The team had a successful season and placed first at all their competitions, including at the Local, State, and Regional levels, which qualified them to compete at the PopWarner National competition. The JV team placed 7th at Nationals in their division, they competed at Nationals with an invitational bid from Regionals, and the Mighty Mite team placed 3rd at Nationals, after qualifying at Regionals.
PeeWee head coach, Tina Mader, has attended Nationals 9 years in a row and her assistant coaches this season were all her past cheerleaders who aged out. In the 9 years competing at the National competition this was these coaches first time bringing home a 1st place trophy, making this a monumental moment in their coaching careers. The PeeWee team competed against 6 other teams and had 26 girls competing on the mat, each one giving their all to bring home the title.
The teams and organization conducted a variety of fundraisers to help fund the cheerleaders and coaches trip to the competition. All coaches, trainees, and coordinators are volunteers who give their time and energy to make a successful season for all the teams. The organization proudly brought home two-National trophies to add to their collection. Throughout the long season, the coaches and cheerleaders showed immense dedication and perseverance, their love for the sport led the PeeWee team to proudly achieve the National Title in their division!
