Ms. Alves, Science teacher at Watertown High School, has been awarded Teacher of the Year for the Watertown Public School district this year. She feels very proud of this award as it, “means that all the hard work that I put into making sure students feel safe and heard is recognized.” She has been teaching for 12 years, this being her fifth year at Watertown High School. She is also involved in clubs after school, such as being one of the 2025 Class Advisors and a National Honor Society Advisor. This award encourages her to continue to get to know her students and design her teaching along with their interests. Mrs. Alves is proud of the little wins in her classroom like when students feel they can’t do something but they prove they can. She gets her students engaged when they enter the class and tries to make class as fun as she can. Out of school, Mrs. Alves likes to spend time with her family and coaches her daughters softball team in Cheshire. Congratulations again to Mrs. Alves on Teacher of the Year!
