Tacos Mi Nacho is a restaurant in Meriden with a sister location in Southington. We often go to the Meriden location so we decided to compare and contrast it with the Southington location. When you first walk in, both restaurants are very similar in decor and even have the same booths. Southington is much smaller inside along with a more unstable table that we were seated at. We were quickly attended to once we were seated however when we received our drinks, to our dismay they did not taste the best. The Coke had a weird aftertaste, and the water tasted almost as if it was scooped directly from a hole in the ground.
The menus in Meriden and Southington are exactly the same. We received our appetizers; fresh guacamole and pork tamales. The pork tamales were delectable although one was a bit burnt. The guacamole on the other hand was not up to par. To begin, it tasted like it was stirred with a pine branch and topped with pinecone zest. There were quarter chunks of avocado and it definitely was not better than the amazing fresh made house guacamole at Meriden.
For our entrees, we both ordered the fajitas combo which comes with corn or flour tortillas paired with chicken, shrimp, steak, and fresh fajita veggies. When the food arrived we were pleasantly surprised by the large portions and possibly the biggest game changer, TWO TORTILLAS WITH CHEESE IN BETWEEN. This is something that Meriden does not do, and it adds a special experience to the first Fajita. The steak was better than Meriden, because it was less chewy and didn’t fall out when you bit your fajita. The chicken seemed similar if not a little more seasoned than Meriden. The refried beans were the exact same as Meriden as well as the Rice.
