The Swim and Dive Team

In October, the Watertown Swim and Dive team held a beautiful ceremony for Pink Night to honor those who battle breast cancer as well as celebrating the graduating class of seniors. Every year the girls sell pink ducks at lunch to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. On the bottom of the duck, people write their loved ones’ names to honor the sacrifices and acts they’ve made to fight breast cancer. The team announced the names at the ceremony and then tossed them into the pool. They raised a total amount of $972 which is given to a breast cancer research facility.

Senior Night at the pool was a night to remember, where seniors from WHS and from the opposing team were given gifts and posters. Each senior was given posters and gifts. The team also provided gifts for the opposite teams’ seniors. Teammates read their speech for each senior as they stood on their block or board. The seniors took their last and final lap before the night was over.

Ms Wolf, the assistant coach for the girls team for 3 years, started coaching for her love of swim and the friends she made. Emma Conard and Gianna Calabrese are senior captains. They both started swimming and diving at the Park and Recreations team in sixth grade and have been swimming ever since; Gianna is going to continue diving on a college level. Sara Dishnica is a freshman and a first time swimmer for the team. She says, “The team is very welcoming and they asked me to join.” Everyday her personal record gets better and better. Anyone can join the swim and dive team.
