Watertown Winter Sports
Watertown High School’s 2022-2023 winter sports season started November 28th and offers indoor track, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ swim and dive, boys’ and girls’ hockey, cheerleading, and unified sports. This year, teams are eager to compete at high levels in the Naugatuck Valley League and be involved in positive team experiences. Athletic Director, Paul Catuccio, has been working with the sports’ schedules, transportation, and everything necessary in preparation for the upcoming months, to ensure a great start to the season. Coaches Lafontaine, Soeprasetyo, Ervin, Murphy, Vicenzi, Weidemier, and Wolf have all been preparing their teams athletically by conditioning and training. To access the winter sports schedules, go to the Watertown High School athletic webpage at www.watertownps.org.
This year, Watertown winter sports offer a girls’ hockey team which is hosted by Avon schools and is combined with eight other districts. In addition, ladies who participate in a fall sport are also allowed to swim with the boys in the winter, since girls’ swim and dive runs in the fall. These efforts at WHS embrace and highlight the diversity and acceptance of our winter sports.
