Forensics Field Trip
On Monday March 13th, the Forensics Club went to the Henry C. Lee Institute of Forensic Science at the University of New Haven. This institute is one of the best forensic programs in the state, resulting in many of the students at the university to go into majors in Criminal Justice. The institute was founded by Henry C. Lee, who is one of the most famous forensic scientists, who worked on well known cases such as the O.J. Simpson case.
Students got a tour of the campus from a student who is majoring in Forensic Science. The tour guide shared some knowledge he learned during his time at UNH, such as how to find DNA and test substance samples off of a shirt. He was able to show the students fake crime scenes, the forensic labs, and even a little bit of the campus around it. Forensics Club founder Megan Mordarski says it was inspiring to see how “our tour guide was an actual current student who really loved what he was doing, and was genuinely excited about the facts he learned.” The students really enjoyed the field trip, and some of the students look forward to applying to UNH!
