To kick off the year, WHS Link Crew hosted a successful Freshman Orientation on August 30th, for the class of 2027. Junior Link Crew Leader Dominic Soepraseyo talked to “The Warriors Wire about what this club does for the freshman, and how to keep them engaged throughout the school day. “Link Crew Leaders made a pack to welcome and support the incoming freshmen throughout their high school years. We are, in a way, mini Counselors’ for them,” Dominic shared.
Link Crew Leaders developed activities for everyone’s involvement, and engagement, and feel comfortable with one another. Link Leaders first start with ice breaker games. One of the most popular games was the “Name Game” which Freshman Ella Overbough stated she liked the best. She shared that the Link Leaders played games that involved teamwork. On top of that, she was provided with insight on how the next 4 years would look like for her. Emma Lautenschlager, a freshman, shared that she liked her Link Crew Leaders the best because they made the entire day more inviting and fun. She wanted to give Rea Hoxha and Julianna Vehr a special thanks for making the day more enjoyable. On Top of that, Link Leaders also encouraged the freshmen to join sports and clubs at the Activities fair. Members of sports teams and clubs set up a station in the gym so that the freshmen can walk around and see what WHS has to offer.
Link Crew Leaders give a lot of their time and effort throughout the year to make sure the freshmen have a smooth transition from middle school to high school. They dedicate two days prior to orientation to train and learn how to keep the students engaged and excited to start their first year of high school. WHS appreciates everything Link Crew Leaders do to make sure our incoming Warriors have a great start to their year!
