On February 5, 2024, students in the Baking and Pastry Arts class learned about the design aspect of pastry arts by learning how to plate food. The students watched videos giving tips and tutorials about how to make a simple meal, such as a Twinkie, look like so much more. As Mrs. Quatrano, the Foods and Consumer Science teacher says, “We eat with our eyes,” so making a simple Twinkie look like it’s from a five star restaurant is a good skill in the food business. The students were free to do what they wanted with the Twinkie with no strict ingredients to use and no exact design they had to follow. The students all had fun and enjoyed this creative assignment, designing beautifully plated twinkies!
