January Senior Student of the Month

January+Senior+Student+of+the+Month

The Senior Student of the Month for the month of January is Jimiyah Brunette. Jimiyah was nominated by her Social Studies teacher, Mr. Cerrato. When asked why she believes she received student of the month, Jimiyah answered, “I am passionate about my work in class. I love to participate and share my opinions in class and I like to keep things interesting and relatable to my peers and I.” Despite that, Jimiyah was surprised to be awarded Student of the Month, and just recently learned about it.

Jimiyah states, “Being chosen means that the hard work I put in doesn’t go unnoticed, and that means a lot to me. It just reassures me that everything pays off in some way.” Jimiyah is a member of National Honors Society, National Art Honors Society, Link Crew, and is a valued participant in the WHS Theater Department. Her high school goals are to have some influence on the school environment before she graduates. She added “I want kids to enjoy coming to school and learning everyday.”

A quote Jimiyah is inspired by is “Think positive and be efficient,” which is something her father says to her often. She states, “It keeps me going on the tougher days because everyone has times when they aren’t feeling 100%.” Jimiyah looks up to her parents and is motivated by the amount of hard work they have put in, to do better everyday. Jimiyah’s advice to students who want to become Student of the Month is, “Stay true to yourself. Teachers, Staff, and people in general enjoy seeing you be authentically yourself..”
