On Wednesday, February 26th, WHS hosted a visiting committee from CAS (Connecticut Association of Schools), to observe our school as a nominee for CT School of the Year! WHS came in second place, and Mr. Perugini could not be prouder as this is a “testament to the hard work, passion, and dedication of our students, staff, and community.” The visiting committee walked through the building, going from class to class, “recognizing our commitment to student achievement, dedication to fostering a positive school culture, and the incredible initiatives we have implemented.”
When the committee asked Mr. Perugini for places to eat around town, he recommended Mr. Kepics and his Foods students make a homemade lunch for everyone to show off some of the talent in WHS. After the walkthrough of our school, the committee sat in front of a panel of students, then teachers, then parents, the Superintendent & other department directors, Board of Education members, and then administrators, asking a variety of questions to narrow down their decision. Mr. Perugini, students, and staff are thrilled for this achievement for WHS! Hoping to be nominated for such an award again, Mr. Perugini knows WHS will continue to “create an environment where our staff loves to work, our students thrive, and our families feel connected and valued.”
