Midterms
Midterms are being held this year from January 19th to January 25th with makeup exams on January 26th. Students of Watertown High School will be testing to see the progress they made during the first semester. Testing will consist of two exams each day: Monday has testing for first and second periods, Tuesday has third and fourth periods, and so on. The bus times for the exams will be the same as usual on half days – even for the makeup day on January 26th. If a student has one exam in a day but still needs the morning or afternoon bus, the cafe and library are available for the student to study and stay in while waiting.
Midterms for full-year courses affect grades by ten percent. Half-year class midterms count as twenty percent, as it’s graded as a final instead. These tests present a view of how students are doing in their classes, so, don’t forget to study!
Mr. Hogrefe, WHS’ Vice Principal, discussed a few study tips for students to do well: he mentioned that getting enough rest the night before, and eating a good, hearty breakfast that morning could profoundly influence how students’ test scores come out. He also said, “reaching out and asking for help” is a clever decision if a student has questions or are struggling with a concept.
