Career Day

A very successful career day was held at Watertown High School on November 23rd. Students had the opportunity to speak with several professionals working in a variety of fields while also attending their regularly scheduled classes for the day. A few notable guest speakers represented the following professions: Sports Marketing, Tattoo Artist, Nurses, School Psychologist, Social Media Marking and Creative Designer, a Mortician, Paratrooper, Dispatcher, Chief of Police, Professor, Accountant, Local Business owners, Entrepreneurs and even someone who is on the Parole Board. Students engaged in conversations with the professionals, learning about what their job entails, the difficulties they may have faced, and what sparked their interest.

Ms. Guerrera, a math teacher at WHS shared, “ I wish kids had the chance to go into the classroom with the profession they were interested however, the idea is great and we need to do more career exposures going forward. I liked how kids got to experience different careers they might have not been exposed to before.” This was viewed as a huge success by many teachers and students, and they plan to continue it in the future. Watertown High School thanks the Career Day participants for opening the eyes of young students of WHS!
