Field Rebuild

Field+Rebuild

The track and field at WHS is currently undergoing a turf renovation, yet the much-anticipated completion of the field is behind schedule causing a problematic change in the sports schedule. Every 8 years, a typical synthetic turf field needs to get redone due to its “life expectancy.” The renovation of the new field is important to our school’s Athletics Department because many sports such as Football, Soccer, Field Hockey, Track and Field, and Cross Country utilize the turf for practices and games. The renovation has caused all of our sports to find new fields to fill their needs, therefore the teams are eager to get back on their home turf!

The Athletic Director, central office, and Facilities Director decided to make the alteration of the field. The redesign of the end zones and the field’s center was decided upon collectively. Instead of an orange and black WHS in the middle of the field, it is now going to be one huge “W” in the color orange. The end zones are now filled with color and have the word “Watertown” going across. Lastly, the track is now going to be black instead of red.
