On October 27th, art students of WHS were offered a chance to go to New York and visit the Storm King Art Center. Located in New Windsor, Storm King Art Center is a 500-acre open-air outdoor museum. It has perhaps the largest collection of contemporary outdoor sculptures in the United States. For an assignment, students were asked to take photos of the pieces from different angles to fit four of the seven prompts provided. Students were given the opportunity to explore the grounds, being able to look at as many different pieces of art as they pleased. Some bought things at the gift shop, which had a variety of different toys, books, stuffed animals—something for everyone. There was also a tram that went around the park, stopping at key points to glance at. With the amount of space it has, there is around 115 sculptures, each so different from the last. Some of the most popular ones being Three Legged Buddha by Zhang Huan, Five Swords by Alexander Calder, and Iliad by Alexander Liberman.
