On Friday, November 15th, students from Video Production, Publishing, and Graphics 3 & 4 traveled to the University of Hartford to take part in a Media Day. The day offered hands-on experiences in the STN2 TV studio, a full student-run news channel, where students rotated through roles as news anchors and camera operators. They experimented with professional lighting setups and even practiced the famous dolly zoom, also known as the Vertigo effect, a cinematic technique used in movies to create dramatic perspective shifts. An advertising workshop also introduced students to the growing connection between artificial intelligence and advertising, sparking conversations about how technology is reshaping the media industry. Student, Ava Perreault, reflected on the day, saying, “I found a new interest that I like and it got me involved in different aspects of media.” The event was not only educational but also highly creative, giving students a chance to explore new skills for future opportunities in media and communications.
