Course selection, the time to decide your next year’s schedule, is approaching. The classes one chooses shapes the academic experience and an exploration of interests. Thoughtful course selection can set students up for success both in high school and beyond.
Before selecting courses, students become familiar with their graduation requirements. Freshmen and sophomores are required to have seven credits, while juniors and seniors only six each year. This means that over 4 years, students must earn at least 26 credits to graduate. School counselors have set a tentative date of February 20th by which students should have their classes selected. After deciding on courses, students will have a chance to meet with counselors during mid-March to confirm what they have chosen. According to Ms. Robinson, a school counselor, “It’s important to think about your interests and strengths when deciding what classes to take.”
