Watertown High School celebrated Read Across America Week with a series of creative daily challenges designed to encourage students and staff to enjoy reading in fun and engaging ways. Throughout the week, participants were invited to take photos based on a different reading prompt and submit them through a daily Google Form.
The week began with “Where I Read” on Monday, where students and staff could snap a photo of themselves reading in their favorite school-appropriate spot. On Tuesday, the challenge became more collaborative with “Team Read,” encouraging participants to take a picture reading with a friend, family member, classmate, or staff member.
Wednesday’s prompt, “Throwback Read,” asked participants to share a photo connected to a childhood favorite book or one that first inspired their love of reading. Thursday’s challenge, “Future Me Reads,” focused on the future, inviting students to post a photo of themselves reading something related to their career goals, hobbies, or a topic they want to learn more about.
The week wrapped up on Friday with “Character Vibes,” where participants can get creative by lining up their face with a book cover or posing like a character or scene from a book.
Submitted photos may be shared on the school’s Instagram account, and at the end of the week winners were announced for several categories, including Most Creative Photo, Best Staff Reader, and Best Student Reader. Watertown High’s Read Across America Week encourages everyone to celebrate the power of reading.
