On Tuesday, March 24th National Honor Society will be hosting their annual blood drive with the American Red Cross organization in the WHS gymnasium. This event is to raise awareness for the persistent demand of blood worldwide. The Red Cross Blood Services reports the daily demand for blood is 29,000 to 36,000 units. Therefore, the NHS requests volunteers to not only support the American Red Cross but to also save multiple lives.
Before deciding to donate, ensure that you’re above the age of 16 with a signed parent permission slip. Donations will take place during study hall periods or Flex based on availability. To sign up, NHS members will be going to classrooms during Flex and can also be found during each lunch wave. If you have any remaining questions, thoughts, or want to sign up please contact Mrs. Alves in room 212.
Participants who donate will be guaranteed a $15 dollar gift card to any merchant of their choice. Participants will also have the opportunity to get a free A1C test which checks your blood sugar over a few month period to check for diabetes. Please advise students who do not qualify for donating will be turned away for safety reasons.
