Hamilton, celebrating 10 years on Broadway, recently began a North American Tour,  stopping in Hartford at Bushnell Theatre, showing that the musical still has as much impact and power as ever. For those who don’t know, Hamilton is a musical that tells the life story of Founding Father Alexander Hamilton through hip-hop, R&B, and modern musical storytelling. The touring cast brought standout performances, especially in the roles of Hamilton and Eliza (played by Tyler Fauntleroy and Lauren Mariasoosay), delivering vocals that were every bit as strong and impressive as fans could hope for. Even for people who already know the soundtrack or the filmed version, seeing the performance live made the story feel more emotional and intimate, with several moments hitting harder in person than they ever do through a screen.

Compared to the OG cast, the touring actors didn’t just hold up to the standards, but they brought their own interpretations and confidence to the stage, which kept the show feeling fresh and unique. Reactions from people, including myself, show that Hamilton still connects just as strongly after a decade. Overall, the Hartford performance proved that the musical still earns its hype, and I would absolutely recommend seeing this tour if you get the chance.
