On December 4th 2025, the World Language Honor Society (WLHS) visited John Trumbull Primary School to teach second graders the beauty of Spanish and French. The students split up into groups and visited several classrooms to not only teach new vocabulary, but to also promote learning a language in middle school and high school.
Members of the WLHS had to create their own lesson plans, including worksheets or presentations for the kids, but members found it worth it. Senior Eleanor Makarewicz stated, “It’s always fun to see the kids so excited, and it’s fun to be a teacher to them.” A peripheral benefit for participants was being able to teach their younger siblings.
Overall, it was a day filled with the excited chatter of second graders learning to speak different languages. This event promised to be an exciting trip for future WLHS members in upcoming years.
