On March 19th, 20th and 21st, the Watertown High School Theater Department performed their spring musical Sister Act, directed by Foster Evans Reese and Produced by Mindi Davidson. Alongside Foster were the stage crew managers, Sara Dishnica and Eleanor Makarewicz, who helped bring the musical to life through their scenery. They directed the paint and build crew to create the beautiful set. In addition, they directed the run crew during their many scene changes. Sound Director, Juliette Molina, worked hard using new microphones making sure every cast member was heard. Pit Director and Band teacher, Mr. Sulzicki, helped conduct the pit leading to a successful show with an entertaining soundtrack. Alongside Foster, Cameron Longi choreographed certain scenes including the nun tap dance.
Finally, this show couldn’t have been done without Jeilianny Quispe, better known as the main character, Deloris Van Cartier/Sister Mary Clarence. Other notable performers were: Alexa Serpas as Mother Superior, Hailey Peguero as Sister Mary Robert, Grace Simmons as Sister Mary Patrick, Sara McGowan as Sister Mary Lazarus, Monsignor O’Hara as Tyler Geer and Daniel Viacava as Curtis.
Principal, Mr. Perugini said, “From the moment the curtain opened, Watertown High School’s production of Sister Act delivered. The energy, the joy, and the level of polish on that stage was something special. This was not just a school musical, this was a full production that had the audience engaged from start to finish.” The Watertown Theater Department will return in the fall to perform the student directed play.
