The November Student of the Month is senior Ava Stango; she was nominated by Ms. Langlais, who says that Ava excels in the school’s CTE Department and “steps up as a leader.” Ms. Langlais continues, “Ava pushes herself independently. She is a role model for her peers.” Ava was pleasantly surprised that she was nominated and expressed that she was glad that hard work and dedication was rewarded. One of her high school goals has been to maintain her perfect attendance record, which she’s upheld since kindergarten.
Ava is currently a UConn ECE student and has been participating in Publishing for four years. She also participates in Yearbook, Graphics 3 ECE, and Wind Ensemble, where she plays the tuba and the sousaphone for Pep Band. Her favorite classes to attend are all of her tech classes.
After high school, she will major in Graphic Design to focus on magazines, branding, and printing. She currently participates in a range of extracurriculars; she is the President of National Technical Honor Society, a volleyball team captain, an officer for Tri-M Honor Society, and Model UN. Likewise, Ava is an active member of National Honor Society, World Language Honor Society and Link Crew. She has been WHS Theater’s Pit Director for two years and has even won a Halo Award for writing the arrangement. Humorously, Ava believes that “a perfect man is an average woman,” because she “gets a lot done in two hours, probably more than a guy could do in a whole day.” Ava is a dedicated, hardworking student in all of her classes and is involved in the school community.
