The December Junior Student of the Month is Kathryn Bookout, nominated by Science Teacher, Mrs. Gaydosh. Kathryn was surprised to receive Student of the Month, as she didn’t know she had been nominated, making the award even more meaningful to her. She believes her hard work and dedication in chemistry played a big role in earning the recognition, and she sees the award as a privilege and an honor to represent our school.
Since her freshman year, Kathryn has increased putting effort and focus into her academics, learning how to juggle her workload, staying timely, and always trying her best. Her favorite subject is pre-calculus, and she hopes to take all honors classes for the rest of high school and graduate with strong grades. Kathryn isn’t sure where she wants to go to college yet, but she knows that continuing her education after high school is a goal of hers.
Outside of the classroom, Kathryn is a lacrosse and field hockey player and is involved in Interact, Art Honor Society, and The National Social Studies Honor Society. She also looks up to her mom and sisters as her role models. For students hoping to become Student of the Month, Kathryn’s advice is to: “keep working hard and don’t give up.” She lives by the quote, “be addicted to your passions not your distractions.”
