Sofia Barbagallo had been nominated for the December Senior Student of the Month award. Sofia was shocked that she was nominated. She is excited for this award, knowing that her efforts have paid off by working really hard. To her, being chosen means that she’s been recognized for her effort.
Sofia has grown from freshmen year, by facing the fact that high school wasn’t going to be easy. She faced difficulties in the beginning of the year with challenging AP and ECE classes but she managed to pass them by staying strong. Her goals are to graduate with high honors and gain enough knowledge for college to go smoothly. After graduation, she majors in biology with a pre-medical track; she hopes to pursue her M.D. Her favorite subject is science because it generates curiosity.
Sofia is the secretary of Best Buddies, and brainstorms ideas for fundraisers. She is also involved in Unified Sports, takes part in the WHS swim team, and takes 3 ECE classes. She looks up to her godmother because “she works hard and is strong, started a business from nothing, and gained many work clients while being able to balance work life and home.” A quote that Sofia finds inspiring is; “Never give up, even if times get hard and you feel like giving up. Hard work pays off, and you will be rewarded in the end.” A favorite memory has been winning the lacrosse championship in her Junior year.
