Roxana Cid was selected as November Sophomore Student of the Month by her teacher, Mr. Phillips. Mr. Phillips noted that, “Roxy has transformed into a focused and determined student. She consistently completes her work on time and, more importantly, demonstrates a genuine desire to put forth her best effort.” He notes even when she is absent, she takes initiative to catch up on what she missed, demonstrating the kind of growth and accountability educators hope to see in their students.
Roxana says she earned this honor by, “actually doing my work on time” and “putting my friends to the side because they were distracting me.” She encourages others to “try your best, do your work, put in effort.”
Family is important to Roxana and she enjoys helping her mom cook and saying goodnight before bed. She also enjoys going on walks with her sister, who she describes as “a really good student”, and someone she has always looked up to. Although she isn’t currently in sports, she hopes to join the volleyball team next year.
